Stash is an offline-first Android music player that syncs your liked songs, playlists, daily mixes, and discover mixes from both Spotify and YouTube Music into a single unified local library. Tracks are downloaded as high-quality FLAC audio.
Stash is not an online streaming service. It’s a personal-library tool for people who already have Spotify or YouTube Music accounts and want their library available offline on their terms. Studio quality tracks, they’re yours to keep.
Features
● Offline everything — tracks download as high-quality lossless audio
● Bulletproof matching — finds the right version of tracks 99% of the time
● Custom playlists — create your own playlists and save tracks to them from anywhere.
● Spotify & YT sync preferences — choose exactly which playlists, liked songs, daily mixes, and discovery mixes to sync. Individual toggles for each. Don’t want Daily Mix 3? Turn it off.
● Expanded Spotify mix detection — Release Radar, Discover Weekly, On Repeat, Daylist, Repeat Rewind, Time Capsule, and Daily Mixes 1-6 are all automatically detected when available. Each gets its own toggle.
● Refresh vs Accumulate sync modes — mixes can either replace their contents each sync (Refresh) or stack new tracks on top of what’s already there (Accumulate). Your call.
● Parallel downloads — 8 simultaneous tracks. Background sync runs as a foreground service so it actually finishes with the phone locked.
● High-res album art
● Automatic update notifications — checks GitHub for new releases daily and notifies you when one is available.
● Full equalizer — 5-band EQ with presets, bass boost, and virtualizer
● Spotify sign-in built in — just log into Spotify inside the app
● Private by design — credentials encrypted with AES-256-GCM, no servers, no telemetry, nothing leaves your phone
● Free and open source — no subscriptions, no ads, GPL-3.0

What’s New:
Control the web player from your phone. A home screen widget. Data saver optimized. Saved albums fix + many more improvements.
What’s new
● Control the web player from your phone. When the web player is open in a linked browser, Home and Library show a card above the mini player with what’s on there. Play, pause and skip from the card, or tap it for a seek bar and the browser’s volume.
● A home screen widget. Add Stash’s Now playing widget from your home screen’s widget list, wide or square, and resize it as you like. It shows the cover and title with play/pause and next, and a tap on the cover or title opens Now Playing. Play picks up where you left off even after Stash was closed, and Next always starts the next song playing.
● Data saver really saves data, and leaves beta. Data saver in Settings → Audio & Quality now works on mobile data and metered Wi-Fi only: songs stream in lower quality instead of FLAC, pictures are smaller, and nothing is fetched ahead. On Wi-Fi nothing changes, and downloads are never affected. The song already playing finishes as it started; the change applies from the next one.
● Library → Albums now holds your saved albums. Each album you’ve saved, whether in Stash, from a pasted link, on YouTube Music or on Spotify, shows there with its songs in album order, each song once. Songs that aren’t on a saved album stay in Songs and Artists. Spotify sync now brings in your saved albums too (switch it off on Sync’s Spotify page, under Albums). Saved albums no longer crowd Playlists or Add to playlist, and they don’t show in the web player yet.
● Moods and genres in Search. Before you type, Search now shows Moods & moments and Genres as colour tiles with covers. A tile opens its playlists, and a genre’s page now has Songs and Albums rows too. The keyboard waits until you tap the field, and your recent searches show then. Don’t want them? Turn off Settings → Appearance → Moods & genres in Search.
● Likes reach Spotify, YouTube Music and Last.fm reliably, and leave beta. Every heart is kept until it’s sent, so a like made offline or before a restart still goes through. If a song was already liked on the service, un-hearting it in Stash leaves it liked there. Each switch in Settings → Accounts & Sync now shows whether everything has gone through, and likes you make in the web player reach those services too, through the same switches on your linked phone.
● Fewer duplicate songs. After the update, Stash tidies up repeat copies of the same song once, in the background, and tells you how many it merged; plays, likes and playlist places move to the copy that stays. Pairs it isn’t sure about wait for you in Settings → Library & Storage → Library Health → Possible duplicates, where you choose Merge or Not a duplicate. A song you already have is never downloaded twice: tapping Download on it says “Already on your phone.”
● Fix a wrong match yourself. On the Sync tab, open the songs that couldn’t be matched and tap one: a search box opens with its artist and title, showing YouTube Music’s results first and then the rest of YouTube. Preview a result and tick it to use it. In Now Playing, ⋮ → Flag as Wrong Match → Find a better match now takes you straight there.
● New on Home: Because you like, and New from your artists. Because you like ‹song› picks a song you play a lot or liked lately and shows songs related to it, mostly ones you don’t have yet; tap one to play the row. New from your artists shows this year’s and last year’s releases from the artists you play most. Both fill in once you’ve listened for a while, show while you’re Online, and can be moved or hidden in Settings → Appearance → Home layout.
● Import a playlist file. Library → + → Import a playlist file turns an M3U, XSPF, CSV or TXT playlist into a playlist of your own, matched to songs you already have. Importing a newer copy later adds only what’s new.
● Artist pages: what’s new, and real listener counts. A Latest releases row under Popular shows what the artist has put out in the last two months, and stays away when there’s nothing new. Under the artist’s name you now see monthly listeners instead of the YouTube subscriber count.
● Community, redesigned, and votes come from listeners. This week’s #1 leads as a big card with the next four after it, and See all splits into Top this week, New and Your posts. Votes are one pill on each post. You can vote on a post once you’ve played it for 30 seconds from the post itself.
● Streaming quality from Now Playing. While you’re Online, ⋮ → Streaming quality lets you switch Lossless, Data saver and Prefer Tidal AAC without leaving the player. Changes apply from the next song.
● Stash follows Battery Saver. When your phone’s Battery Saver is on, Stash pauses its looping animations, like the glow, scrolling titles and the full-art pan, and stops fetching things ahead of time. Music sounds the same. Stash also does less in the background when nothing has changed, and Now Playing no longer keeps redrawing the screen while paused.
● Colours follow the song. Buttons, switches, sliders and highlights all through Stash now take the colour of the song that’s on, paused included, instead of purple. With nothing playing they’re black, white and grey. The top of Home also glows softly in the cover’s colour. To keep things plain, set Settings → Appearance → Album colours to Neutral; Now Playing and the mini player still follow the cover.
UX polish
● Download mode is now called Offline and Stream only is Online: the same two modes, with clearer names wherever the switch appears.
● Start radio is now in every song menu in Library and on Library’s artist pages, with Stash’s own radio icon, which pulses gently in Now Playing while a station plays.
● Settings → Library & Storage → Your Stash (it was Link Stash on the web) puts your linked browsers, supporter status, cloud storage and backups on one page, still with no account or email.
● Home layout now sits near the top of Settings → Appearance, and you drag its sections by their handle, the way you reorder the queue.
● Your record’s mixes now sit right under the Your record card and move with it; long-press the card to hide it and keep the mixes, and Home now shows six of them instead of three.
● Home’s Your listening has a cleaner, more compact look with covers on Top songs and History, and its stats screen no longer cuts numbers off.
● The Your record card never cuts off an artist name or a number, even at large text sizes.
● The Support Stash card at the top of Settings is redone, with this month’s goal and one Donate button in the colour of the song that’s on; Star on GitHub moved to Settings → About & Help.
● Unlimited Tidal & Qobuz for supporters now starts at $5 on Ko-fi; smaller gifts add up, and anyone who has already given keeps it.
● From the next update on, the update sheet shows the highlights first, the full notes a tap away, and a Skip this version button.
● The Sync tab has a Downloads row above Auto-sync that shows what’s downloading, waiting or failed.
● Mixes Stash makes, like Daily Discover, no longer show Spotify and YouTube dots.
● Album rows on Home now use the same card size as the mix rows.
● The supporter ticker on Home scrolls a little faster.
● If you never changed them, dark mode is now pure black and full art in Now Playing shows the whole cover, uncropped.
● With Settings → Appearance → Title alignment on Left, Now Playing’s quality line now lines up with the title.
● Android Auto has an Albums list with the saved albums you’ve downloaded in full.
● Translations moved from Crowdin to Weblate, and Home’s Help us translate menu now leads there. Thanks to @ParaliyzedEvo.
Bug fixes
● Very large libraries no longer freeze and crash when you tap a song in Library → Songs; Up next shows the songs coming up and how many more follow.
● An empty Spotify playlist no longer makes every sync look incomplete, and a playlist that really can’t be read is now named in Sync history. If you use Refresh mode, Spotify playlists you deleted a while ago may all leave Stash on your first sync after updating; Undo last sync brings them back.
● With only one service connected, Refresh mode now also removes the downloads of songs you took off a playlist there.
● If you set up your own Tidal server, Stash now asks it first when your quality is above CD, and Settings → Audio & Quality → Lossless sources lists your sources in the order they’re really tried.
● Mixes on Home that you never favorited lose their heart, and switching a mix on for download no longer favorites it.
● The Sync tab’s “synced … ago” now stays true and counts up while you watch.
● YouTube songs you liked or played no longer show a green Spotify dot.
● Albums whose back cover is slow to arrive, like good kid, m.A.A.d city, now get their back cover and inside pages in Now Playing.
● Artist pages show Fans also like again.
● Coming back to an artist page from an album no longer jumps its Albums row back to the playing album.
● Album cards on artist pages no longer show a stray dot after the year.
● Scanning the web player’s code from inside Stash works now; the camera never opened before.
● When you link a browser, its code no longer runs into the words around it.
● Menus and sheets in the dark theme no longer show a white navigation bar under them.
● A new Daily Discover gets its cover as soon as its songs have art, instead of a blank note.
