Quick Start: The Certificate Thing

Spotilol generates a local CA cert so Spotify doesn’t know you’re in a WebView. it lives on your device, stays on your device.
● open Spotilol — you’ll see the “Certificate Required” screen
● tap “Export .pem” to save it to your Downloads
● go to Settings > Security > Encryption & Credentials > Install a certificate > CA certificate
● find spotilol_ca.pem in your Downloads and tap it
● it’ll warn you about network monitoring — tap “Install anyway”
● come back to Spotilol and tap “Check”. if it worked, you’re in.

● Note: if you ever clear your device’s credential storage (like after a factory reset), you’ll have to do this again.

What’s New:
v1.2.4 Changelog
added

● Widget Studio – the home screen widgets are now configurable and fully themed. A new Widget Studio screen (in Settings) lets you tune each widget instance with a live preview, derives its colors from the app theme and the secondary color, and adds offline shuffle with an offline badge. Both widgets can be configured and reconfigured straight from the launcher.
● Import your own files – bring your own audio into Offline Mode. Files are copied to internal storage with metadata and cover art extracted once at import (your originals are untouched) and can be organized into playlists. Adds Songs/Playlists tabs, an import flow with progress and summary, and playlist create/rename/delete plus add/remove dialogs.
● Offline filters – filter your downloads by artist, album, year and format.
● Offline integrity check – verify damaged files and incomplete tags, with an automatic check, a per-song menu and a compact header.
● Lyrics at download time – lyrics are fetched while downloading and embedded into the MP3 (USLT) and M4A (©lyr) tags, with an optional .lrc sidecar. A native offline lyrics viewer (mic toggle, compact layout, LyricsTheme support) reads them back.
● Lyrics editor – the lyrics style engine was rebuilt on stable hooks with editable controls, replacing the old picker with a two-column editor. Line state is now resolved at runtime, and custom presets can be saved and shared.
● Secondary color and theme packs – coherent secondary color harmonization, custom presets, preset export/import packs and a rebuilt two-column theme picker. More color presets included.
● Logger upgrades – an auto-scroll toggle, long-press to copy a log line, a structured log export, and automatic redaction of secrets, tokens and emails before anything is stored or printed.
● Extract Device Info – a new experimental settings tile that builds a plain-text device report (app, device, region, network, memory, storage, WebView, display and Widevine DRM) and copies it to the clipboard.
● Native volume dialog – the in-player volume slider is replaced by a native dialog that drives the system media volume (STREAM_MUSIC) and stays in sync with the hardware keys.
● Playlist lookup sheet – long-press the like button to see which of your playlists already contain the current track.
● Configurable Innertube cache – set the HTTP cache size used by the downloader.
● Battery exemption prompt – a benefit-focused dialog (shown once per run) plus a Background Playback entry in Settings > Advanced.
● Chinese localization – Spotilol now ships zh, zh-TW, zh-HK, zh-MO and zh-CN.
● Auto-hiding playlist scrollbar – the playlist scrollbar fades out when idle.
● Sleep timer and PiP in the offline full player.

changed

● Widgets follow the app theme – both widgets now take their colors from the active theme and secondary color, and refresh whenever the theme changes.
● Faster web player – steady-state JS load was cut (cached DOM lookups, debounced search, deferred observers) and the artificial splash minimum dropped from 4 s to 1.2 s.
● Media service hardened against background kills – the wake lock is renewed on every tick, the service is START_STICKY and rebuilds the player headlessly after a restart, the media session is created before startForeground, and the WebView is rebuilt on resume when the renderer died in the background.
● Offline screen – compact header and a crossfading Songs/Playlists transition.
● Injected player – the minimized player is 12% shorter, and the Now Playing header offset follows the Hide Top Bar setting.
● Build – dropped x86_64 from the app, lame and opus ABI filters.
● Logger dialog – rebuilt as a compact, responsive two-column panel.
● Settings – removed the crash test tile.
● Wiki – redesigned for the current architecture.

fixed

● ad CDN fallback is restored
● restoring a page from the Back-Forward Cache now reloads it, reviving the Spotify dealer WebSocket
● playlist sorting keeps the saved order when you reopen a playlist
● stray taps no longer activate items in context menu submenus
● the now playing bar no longer flickers
● the track metadata cache is guarded, so it no longer throws an unhandled rejection
● repeated auto-pause events are single-flighted, so playback no longer continues after a pause
● deferred injections and logout checks abort when the page navigates mid-flight
● the WebView client is disposed on teardown, so the prefs listener no longer leaks (and externally sourced strings are quoted before reaching evaluateJavascript)
● the library create button stays visible
● Now Playing header buttons stay visible on narrow panels, in any language
● recommended-track titles no longer overflow past the Add button
● the context sheet closes on an outside tap without click-through
● the download item no longer leaks into the “Add to playlist” sheet
● SingleChoiceDialog options are scrollable
● unescaped apostrophes in the Turkish and French strings
● the existing Turkish translations are registered again
● YouTube Music search falls back to US for unsupported region codes
● the WebView is released on swipe unless a media browser is bound
● the device and crash reports now show the real refresh rate, a thread-safe timestamp, DST-correct dates, and the display, DRM, storage and session sections
● AutoFeatures no longer touches the player while the app is backgrounded
● the lyrics sliders now follow the drag, and the lyrics action buttons have a proper header and background
● spacing between adjacent tracklist action buttons
● deprecation warnings in the media services, the splash and the crash report
