Creating a custom macro is easy:

Click ‘Add Macro’

Select a trigger from the list – (e.g. Battery Level).

Add more actions as required

(Optionally) add constraints from the list (e.g. Day of the Week)

Choose a name and category for the macro

MacroDroid includes many built in and user shared templates to demonstrate the power and flexibility of the application and help you get started. These templates can be used as is, or easily customised to meet your needs.

This app uses the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN). This permission is used by the failed login trigger (nothing else) and will only be enabled if you explicitly give MacroDroid device admin access from within the app.

This app uses Accessibility services. It is a useful tool to help those with disabilities use their device more easily. MacroDroid is widely embraced by the blind community and those with limited motor skills to provide simple automations to greatly simplify device usage.

Pro Version

The free version of MacroDroid is limited to five macros and displays adverts. You can upgrade in the application to allow unlimited macros and remove all adverts. In addition Pro users can share their macros with the community using the built in template store.

The app interface has been updated to have a more modern look across all sections.

The home screen has been updated to be customizable by adding a wide range of different tiles and layouts and removing unnecessary tiles.

Added the Cell Connection Type Change trigger.

Added the Import Macros action.

Added the Floating Text Clicked trigger; it can be used with the Delay on Trigger action to pause a macro until the floating text is clicked.

Added Scene Manager and scene sharing support.

Added the ability to import/export custom widgets individually.

Added Hindi language support.

Added the {previous_invoked_macro} magic text.

Added icons for MacroDroid modes. Built-in modes have default icons, custom modes can be assigned an icon when adding or editing, and mode icons appear in all mode lists and selectors (including the mode tile on the home screen). Custom icons are included in exports and backups.

Call-related triggers have been updated to support SIM card selection on multi-SIM devices (Android 12+).

The “Interact with notification” action has been updated to support matching by notification ID.

The “Click interface” trigger has been updated to support matching by view id, and the {ui_click_view_id} magic text has been added.

The “Play music/sound” trigger has been updated so that it can now be restricted to firing only for specific apps.

Geofences are now exported/imported when sharing individual macro files.

The “Undo macro action” action (this macro) inside an action block now undoes the macro that called that action block.

The new variable creation dialog has been updated to include the ability to specify a comment when creating the variable.

Scene buttons have been updated to include a corner rounding setting.

Fixed a bug in the “Send Intent” action where boolean additional parameters set from a boolean variable would always be sent as false.

The “Edge Highlight” action has been updated to support magic text (variables) in the auto-hide delay value.

The “Send Intent” action has been updated to support more than 6 additional parameters and explicitly specifying additional parameter types.

Fixed a bug where the “Screen Brightness” action could cause brief screen flickering on devices running Android 12+.

Fixed an issue where scene input components (text field, radio button, slider, etc.) inside a repeating layout would write to the “?” dictionary key instead of the current item’s key.

Fixed an issue where running a macro by clicking a notification (or from a picker dialog) would cancel any pending “Wait” actions from other calls to that macro.

Fixed an issue where the “Play/Stop Sound: Stop Current Sound” action would hold a playback wakelock for up to 10 minutes after the sound stopped, and would never resume the macro that was waiting for that sound to finish.

Fixed an issue where the “Interact with UI” action could click a hidden element or surrounding container instead of a visible button when clicking on text if the text appeared multiple times on the screen. Now, if nothing clickable is found, the click is performed at the text location, and the reason for the failed click is logged.

The Get Installed Apps action has been updated to include a “Custom Apps Only” option, “App Name -> Version” output format, and the ability to use the app name as a dictionary key in rich mode.

Variable selection lists (in actions, triggers, constraints, and scene components) have been updated to display a searchable list when there are more than 10 variables.

The Extract to Action Block feature has been updated to allow selecting or creating a category for a new action block.

Added magic text {dayofmonth_no_zero} and {month_digit_no_zero} (existing {dayofmonth} and {month_digit} retain leading zeros).

Camera Circle notification has been updated to allow custom size and positioning for each action.

Fixed a bug with sending emails via Gmail from the wrong account and issues with sending to multiple recipients.

GmailHelper now detects the account based on the value from the settings (the one displayed in the interface and used for the token), and if it is missing, it uses its own setting.

Fixed an error firing the “Email Received” trigger in release builds (error “Error checking server: imaps/pop3s”).

Fixed an issue where the description text would overlap the status bar when scrolling.

Other minor fixes.
